End of Year/Season Reflection Exercise

Reflection is just as important (if not more important) than goal setting.

It can help us learn more about ourselves by bringing awareness to our patterns, strengths and weaknesses.

It is also a beautiful way to celebrate and acknowledge all of your growth!!

This process is not a short one, give yourself anywhere from 1 hour - 3 hours to complete it, and feel free to do 1-2 steps a day if you don’t have that kind of time to set aside.

Step 1)

Gather all of your supplies! Gather anything that will be helpful to jog your memory on the previous year!

Journals, calendars, planners, photos, social media, trackers and goal planning tools

Step 2)

Review the things you have gathered month-by-month and write down a list of the major events & memories.

The beautiful, good, bad, and ugly.

Step 3)

Journal on the following questions:

  • What are you proud of?

  • What was harder than you expected?

  • What do you wish you had done differently?

  • What things happened that surprised you?

  • What are you grateful for?

  • Who did you spend the most time with?

  • Who do you wish you had spent more time with?

  • Add any additional reflections.

Step 4)

Identify the lessons learned

  • Identify any common threads or themes.

  • What do you want to continue practicing & doing?

  • What would you like to change or let go of?

  • What would you like to start doing?

  • Who do you want to spend more or less time with?
